How to Play

Goal

Each kingdom fights to seize the throne of the arena. Win one of two ways:

  • Crown Victory — escort your King to collect 3 Crowns.
  • Elimination Victory — be the last kingdom with a living King.

The board & your pieces

The coliseum is a hexagonal arena of equilateral triangles. Two triangles are adjacent when they share an edge. Each kingdom enters from a Gate triangle where its King begins.

  • King — moves 1 triangle. Only the King can pick up Crowns. If your King dies, your kingdom is eliminated.
  • Knight — moves 2 triangles (3 once upgraded). Your army.

Turns, movement & combat

  • At the start of your turn you automatically spawn a Knight (until you have 5 on the board, up to 10 total).
  • You then make one move: march a formation of up to 3 pieces along connected triangles.
  • A formation moves at the speed of its slowest member; a group containing the King moves 1.
  • Power equals the number of pieces in a formation. Attacking a tile is only legal if your Power is greater than or equal to the defenders' Power.
  • When you defeat a formation containing an enemy King, that whole kingdom is eliminated.

Relics of the arena

Crown

Only a King may claim it. Collect 3 to win.

Horse

Grants 2 bonus moves this turn.

Shield

A Knight that reaches it upgrades itself — it can block one attack.

Boat

Immediately spawn an extra Knight.

A moving formation always stops when it reaches a relic it can claim. Crowns, Shields and Boats reappear elsewhere after being taken; the Horse returns at the end of your turn.

Upgraded Knights

A Knight upgraded by a Shield moves 3 triangles and can block a single attack: instead of dying, it loses its upgrade and the attack is halted — unless the attacking formation also contains an upgraded Knight, which pierces the shield.
